NSW Trade and Investment have provided an update on the 15 July 2014 Subclass 190 nomination technical issues.
The initial 1000 available nomination places were filled within the first hour and a half of the online system opening.

A Sydney-based Chinese migration agent has failed in her bid to have a decision to cancel her registration overturned, with the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) confirming the decision by the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA).

A spokesman for the Department of Immigration and Border Protection said the cancellation of registration of Ms Weiming Qian followed a number of complaints about applications for protection visas.

Breaking down the numbers, next year’s programme planning levels comprise:

128 550 places for skilled migrants, including employer sponsored, general skilled and business migrants

It has been reported in the Australian on the 7 June 2014, that the occupations of Chef, bricklayer and tilers will be made available for independent migration without an employer.

This change means that the above occupations will be listed on the SOL from the 1 July 2014, and be able to apply for the Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189). Continue reading
